Respite Care
Respite means ‘Break time’. We provide Respite Care for families with a member with disabilities, which means a temporary care for that family member. The care providers are being paid by the Regional Center through agencies which are a vendor for them. The care providers help in providing relief to the parents of children with disabilities, while protecting the child’s safety in absence of family, to evoke conversations and companionship, to socialize with consumers and to assist with daily living skills such as personal hygiene. The hours may vary from family to family. Respite – ‘Break Time’ – is for the parents to have the opportunity to go out and relax, to see a movie, go to therapy or support groups or just seeing friends.
Personal Assistance
Personal assistance is provided as a mean to ensure having an extra pair of eyes and hands in the house and to assist the family with daily life activities and tasks such as feeding, bathing, playing and so on. This usually takes place while parent/s are at home during a time the parent needs to give attention to other family members but wants to be sure that the family member with disabilities is watched and safe.
Day Care
Day care hours are for kids which attend after school programs or which attend facilities such as ‘We Rock The Spectrum’ Gym or other camps. Day care service could be after school, or during minimum days and non-school days while parents are at work and the child needs to attend theses places but cannot be accepted without an one-to -one assistance.
